Unlces

hi all
today I want to talk a bit about a very trivial and funny topic-uncles

the reason for this post is that my uncle is staying at my house for 2 weeks. He's from england, and is a very interesting person

I think that i'll start off my post by talking about several types of uncles as seen in different books

i think i'll start with a scale-in my opinion, there are three different types of uncles, with many deviations from each one

first of all, there is the depressed, distant uncle. I think that a good example of this would be Mr. Craven, from Frances Hodgson Burnett's The Secret Garden. This type of uncle is cold and doesn't really seem to care about his niece/nephew
A picture i found online with the search "mr craven"
then there is the good uncle-someone who is calm and not to crazy, but nice and constant all the same. I think that a good example of this would be Mr. Gardiner from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. He is very good and caring, and immediately sets off to london when his niece elopes and he is called to assist Mr. Bennet in finding her.
A picture of the Gardiners from one of the Pride and Prejudice movies(not sure which one though)
I think that the last type of uncle I would think of would be the jolly old uncle, who seems to appear in a lot of strange stories and such. Although I can't find a good representation of this type of uncle in a book, I think that it is pretty well known, and deserves an entire category of uncle-ness.

i think that my uncle would be the last type of uncle. He is quirky, and although rather annoying, kind of funny. His rotund shape also makes him look kinda of like how I imagine a jolly old uncle look

please post any opinions about varying degrees of uncle-ness in the comment section! thanks!

Victorian Stuff(dresses, but not thinking)

hi all
i know that my first post was not about a very nice and happy topic, but this on eis. I really wanted to do a post about victorian stuff, and I've decided to make that want a reality :P

personally, i like victorian stuff. I think that the dresses are way awesome, and that their foods are cool too. I also like the style of victorian houses, or "painted ladies" as some call them. I'll start with my opinion about dresses, though.

my friend Rose has this awesome collection of victorian dresses. This is mostly because her mom is super cool, and has all that stuff from her mom. All these dresses are stored in a few trunks in the back of her mom's closet. If I were in a detective story, I would obviously assume that there was something sacred/dangerous/horrifying in those trunks. Since I'm not, I know that there are just dresses in them. Really awesome dresses. They have tons of different kinds-but all of them are old. A bunch of them have a lot of lace on them, which is really cool. There is this one turquoise dress that looks like it has two parts. It doesn't actually, but it's really cool. It's also this amazing color, with super cool fabric.

she also has a bonnet, which in my opinion makes grown people look like babies. However, i guess it was in style back then :)

Now I think I'll start on their houses. I love them. There are a few on the way to my brother's camp, and I always like passing them. They're really pretty, with all these spries and towers. Not like castles, but still really cool. A lot of them also have really pretty trim. A lot of times it's white, but it can be other colors too. Some door frames and porches have this stuff called gingerbread, which is basically really intricately carved wood. It looks really cool though, and I really like it

One thing I don't really like about victorian stuff is the way of thinking, Marie Antoinette was executed because of her husband's misdoings. I heard that her last words before she was hanged were "excuse me sir" because she'd stepped on a man's foot. I'm not sure if i believe that though...anyway, I don't have to convince anyone that killing wives because they don't have male bbies is bad, so i guess thats all I have to comment on for now

bye!

Sandy Hook Elementary School

Hi!
i just wanted to post something about the recent shooting in Newtown.

A photo thats gotten quite a lot of attention lately
I got into an interesting discussion about this with my mother the other night. My mom was telling my family how the shooting happened. She told us that Adam Lanza and his mother regularly went to shooting places together. My entire family made noises of disgust at this statement. I felt a bit annoyed at this, not because I think people should be allowed to shoot random little 5 year olds they don't even know, but because Adam Lanza is dead, and because you have to have some respect for people.

I think that everyone has their own thing to bond with their kids(although this guy's mom obviously didn't bond well-her son killed her, didn't he?). I also think that it isn't fair for my family to just disregard anything that has to do with guns and murderers as something horrible and disgusting.I think that they need to respect things like this

on the gun law: I do think that the gun restrictions in the U.S do need to be tightened a lot. I think that people should not be able to just buy a gun, but I do think that having a really tight gun law would give some people a lot of power. Governments could simply force people to do things with threats.

other than that i don't have much more to say on the topic. I could rant for hours on this topic, but I don't think that that would be interesting for anyone. I also think that the only thing I'd actually say would be something that I've already said in the above writing

yup!

First Post

Hi!
My name is Eliza and I'm starting this blog randomly. I just kind of want someplace to put stories, things that i write, and all sorts of random stuff in. I know that i could just write some sort of dorky diary or something, but I really think that it would be fun to have a blog. I'm not sure if I'm ever going to post on this blog again, because I'm not actually very good at keeping things together

I guess I don't have much to post today. I'll start with an introduction :)

My name is Eliza Ray, and I'm a teenager who lives in California. I don't really want to say much more about myself. I'll talk about what I'm gonna be doing on this blog

on this blog Im going to just talk about my life, and my opinions. I often have different opinions than other people, and I think that maybe my opinions should be posted somewhere. This blog is going to be kind of like my diary, but not as dorky.

ok!

hope you like my blog!
